One of my favorite local restaurants, The China Pearl, struck me as just the place to take a break from reading the dozens of submissions we received for this Special Issue – Whose Justice? Global and Local Approaches to Transitional Justice. It was Friday Happy Hour and the waitresses were busy delivering rainbow colored drinks in enormous glass bowls, paper umbrellas and fruit garnishes topping off these gaudy beverages. Our glasses of sauvignon blanc arrived blissfully free of adornment, and the food was, as always, delicious.
